Have You Updated Your New Lensmaster Profile?
Two Days ago, Squidoo introduced the new lensmaster profile. I have made some changes and added some links, but I am definitely far from done.
When you go to edit your profile, you will find all kinds of options for you to add your blog, and another blog, and another blog. Then you may want to add another website. They also have an option where you can add your Twitter profile, (I’m bcarter, look me up), eBay store, and facebook profile.
All of these special links show up on the left side of your Squidoo profile so you will no longer need to add these links to your profile manually with HTML. In the same section where you add your websites, you will also notice a section to highlight your favorite lenses. These range from the lens you REALLY, REALLY, REALLY want to be lens of the day to your favorite movie lens. You can feature your own lenses here or lenses from your favorite lensmasters; that is totally up to you. Captain Squid was going to rent these spaces out for $25 a month, but has since decided against it. He is now having a lens of the week contest to have your lens featured on his sidebar. Visit his blog to find out more information.
On the right side of your profile you will notice that all lensmaster profile pictures have been re-sized. If you are using an over-sized picture to get noticed on other lensmaster profiles, you may want to take a look at how your picture looks here because we may only be seeing a portion of your profile picture. I think this gives everyone an equal change at getting noticed and applaud Squidoo for making this change. Add a lensmaster pic that is minimalistic with a white or loud colored background if you want to stand out. Most lensmaster pics seem to be dark, so a light background will make your pic pop in a sea of darkness.
The only gripe that I have about the new lensmaster profile page is the “my bio” portion of the profile is now below the fold. Any links you have here will only be seen by people that scroll down on your profile, so the the “My Bio” section is no longer as valuable as it once was. On my main profile, this won’t be a problem because most of my links were for the blogs that I run which are now featured on my left sidebar. On other profiles, this isn’t as good.
Have you checked out how your profile looks? What do you think about the new layout?

I can list a bunch of my lenses and other links there - teehee, love it. The new layout also looks very professional and neat, I think.
